Capula to deliver National Grid substation upgrade work for SEESA
Capula (part of Imtech UK) has been awarded a contract to upgrade and extend the substation control systems for National Grid sites at Willesden and Sellindge, which are being extended to increase capacity in order to manage network demand.
Contracted by AMS Joint Venture (SEESA), Capula is currently implementing a solution based on a GE RTU, featuring D25 technology and COPA-DATA for the HMI to support additional plant on site.
Willesden plays an important part in the National Grid’s London Power Tunnels project. The project is effectively rewiring London via deep underground tunnels, which will help ensure London’s increasing electricity demands and that it can access new renewable energy sources.
Sellindge converter station connects to the UK landing point for the sub-sea cables near Folkestone, Kent, as part of the Interconnexion France-Angleterre (IFA) electrical interconnector between the British and French transmission systems. The extension to the substation control system at Sellindge will allow for the addition of the ElecLink Interconnector through the Channel Tunnel. In addition, we will also be extending the existing substation control system to include a new GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) substation.
