Capula inspires future engineers at Girlguiding Staffordshire International Camp, Unity 2022
Staffordshire based industrial automation and control systems integrator, Capula recently supported Girlguiding Staffordshire International camp, Unity 2022. Designed to inspire the next generation into Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) careers.
Held every four years, Unity brings together Guides and Rangers aged 10-18, and their leaders from across the county and the world.
This year’s theme ‘Your World of Possibilities’ centred on ESTEAM topics (Environment, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths), with participating exhibitors delivering interactive and engaging events to over 600 members, whilst providing information on career opportunities.
Jane Brookes, Protection Engineer, Capula and Brownie Leader for 15th Stafford Brownies was instrumental in Capula’s involvement on the day: “This was the ideal opportunity to speak to so many girls and young women, to show them that future careers in STEM are a real possibility and that there are many more routes into a rewarding career than what they may have thought possible.
The reception from the girls was resoundingly positive, with many saying that for lots of different reasons they hadn’t previously thought about an engineering career, but that speaking to female engineers on the day enabled them to turn those perceptions on their heads.”
Capula continues its efforts to inspire the next generation and giving back to the local community by working alongside organisations that are passionate about encouraging people from different backgrounds to achieve their career ambitions”.
Jane was supported on the day by fellow engineers, Mariela Moscoso- Flores and Caroline Roche, as well as Lauren Hamilton and Kim Clayton-Bull from the Marketing team.
