Capula supports engagement activities at local schools

Two engineers from Capula recently supported careers events at local schools to help promote a modern image of engineering.

Scott Parker, an engineer in Capula’s Service and Support team, delivered a presentation at a careers event held by Thomas Alleyne School in Uttoxeter, where he was a former pupil. ‘My presentation focussed on the positive experiences and the rapid progression I have enjoyed during my career, after having been exposed to real world engineering problems so soon after graduating. I received some excellent feedback from the group of 50 or so pupils that attended the session,’ said Scott.

Scott Phillips, a Project Manager currently involved in delivering nuclear automation projects at Capula, presented careers information about engineering to around 80 sixth-formers at the Willenhall Academy in Wolverhampton. ‘As a Chartered Engineer myself, I was keen to highlight the types of exciting opportunities open to engineers at all levels, to help raise the profile of engineering,’ commented Scott.

Capula recognises the importance of nurturing and attracting young talent to the industry, having recruited over 60 graduate engineers to the business since 2010. We encourage employees to support educational programmes in the community to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects to young learners to hopefully inspire young people to consider engineering as a future career choice.
