Service agreement extended by National Grid

Capula, part of the Imtech group, has expanded its long-term relationship with National Grid by signing a five year contract renewal to continue delivering the PDSA (Post Delivery Support Agreement). The agreement is for the provision of high quality technical engineering support for the substation control systems (SCS) on up to 80 substations comprising a large proportion of the UK’s substation asset base.

This service provision ensures rapid response from Capula’s skilled and experienced engineering resource who will be on hand to respond quickly to ensure maximum uptime and reduce operational risk. The agreement covers all aspects of system care, including hardware maintenance and configuration as well as a number of preventative services including asset management, hardware repairs and obsolescence management, which effectively helps the client plan for the future of these critical assets.

Capula has been working directly with National Grid for over 20 years to install and support the legacy SCS systems, as well as support the assets now included under National Grid’s SCS upgrade framework, on which Capula has recently been named as a key supplier. Under this framework, Capula will replace and refurbish obsolete control systems and deploy IMPERIUM substation control technologies that facilitate exceptionally short outage times to maximise the availability of the electrical network.

“We are pleased about this new stage of our partnership and under our stewardship National Grid can be assured of excellence both in terms of delivery and support,” said Mark Hardy, Capula’s Managing Director. “In fact, Capula has a proven track record of being at the forefront of service excellence, having consistently scored 100% against National Grid’s KPI’s (key performance indicators) for a number of years on the provision of the support agreement.”
