For Capula Futures, open architecture systems are easier to install, commission, troubleshoot and support, but why?
Proprietary solutions may not offer even the simplest third-party integration due to closed protocols.
Open architecture systems are however designed to be "bolt on compatible", meaning they can be easily scaled, such that you can add, reconfigure or upgrade a component of the system to support any changing or future needs.
From an operational perspective, it is much easier to train operators on an open architecture system. When an open architecture approach proliferates across businesses it becomes easier to source operators with relevant experience. And with more support available, you become less reliant on proprietary training materials and contracts.
Usability is also an important facet, as proprietary systems are difficult to customise for specific user need, for example the approach to HMI graphics and line diagrams vs rich media diagrams.
All our open architecture integrated solutions build on our experience of multiple OEM equipment and software. This also ensures we are well equipped to support any existing open architecture OEM solutions.
However, if you have a proprietary solution that needs support, we have the following options available:
Auditing of the system, identifying if any of the aspects are supportable and then designing a support solution drawn from our industry and project expertise.
We may be able to salvage some of the existing design components (hardware and software) and add additional layers required (software) or minimal hardware to bring the system up to any latest requirements.
We may recommend additional measures to enhance the system further based on our industry best practice.
For any situations where a system is unsupportable, we are able to replace all or components of the existing system with an open architecture-based solution.
