Capula employee takes home the win at prestigious nuclear skills awards
Capula employee Sally Parker was victorious at last night’s National Skills Academy Nuclear (NSAN) awards, winning in the Higher/Degree Apprentice of the Year category.
Now in its 13th year, the National Skills Academy for Nuclear (NSAN) Awards brings the nuclear industry together to celebrate the success and high achievement of individuals nominated for awards in Apprentice, Graduate, STEM and Subject Matter Expert disciplines.
Sally Parker, Junior Engineer
Having only recently joined a new team within the Nuclear business, Sally has been working on a number of high-profile projects using multiple technologies, to deliver early lifecycle design and project management support.
Sally said: “I feel so honoured to have been recognised by the National Skills Academy for Nuclear. I could never have imagined that I would make it this far in the selection, never mind win.
Deciding to do an apprenticeship is one of the best decisions I have ever made. It has opened my life up to a wide range of opportunities which otherwise I would have never had.”
Lee Heathcote, Nuclear Business Unit Manager, said: “Sally has presented herself an excellent fit for Nuclear, being an exceptionally quick learner who always asks the right questions to enable us to give our customers the best experience.”
“I’m sure that today will be only the first of many proud moments for you within your career and I look forward to seeing even more great things from you.”
Jack Senior, Hardware Engineer at Capula was also a finalist in the Nuclear Graduate of the Year category. He is currently occupying a senior role within the design team, delivering on a number of high-profile projects for the next generation of Nuclear Power plants at Hinkley Point C (HPC).
Jack said: ““I couldn’t believe it when they announced I was a finalist for Nuclear Graduate of the Year. It felt great to have my achievements recognised by an external organisation, and I’m really looking forward to where this will take me next in my career. Although I wasn't entirely successful this time round, there is definitely a lot I can take away from this experience to develop myself for the future. But I’d like to congratulate my colleague Sally Parker for taking home the award, she truly deserves it!”
Steve Tellwright, HR Director, Capula said: “I’m extremely proud of Sally and Jack, they have both worked exceptionally hard and deserve every bit of recognition for getting to this final stage in the competition. For Sally to win is a great achievement against some fierce opposition.”
