Summary of Role:

We are looking for enthusiastic & experienced engineers to join our existing Energy team to perform all aspects software design, development and implementation for DCS or PLC/SCADA based control systems. The role will require the successful candidate to work with the project manager in leading a team to deliver projects primarily within the renewable power generation and storage industry. You will lead the team through all aspects of a project lifecycle. Candidates must demonstrate strong technical leadership and proven experience with PCS7/Neo and at least one other technology.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience using Siemens PCS7/Neo Automation Stations and OS including: -
  • Advanced Process Library (APL)
  • Control Module Types (CMT)
  • Sequential Function Charts (SFC)
  • OS Icon/Faceplate Development
  • Siemens TIA Portal for S7 PLCs
  • Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix utilising Studio 5000
  • Schneider M580/M340 utilising EcoStruxure Control Expert
  • COPA-DATA Zenon
  • Siemens WinCC
  • Rockwell FactoryTalk View SE
  • Codra Panorama
  • ArchestrA System Platford
  • Other equivalent SCADA package
  • Producing Function Design Specifications, System/Detailed Design Specifications and Test Specifications
  • Writing software to IEC61131 utilising ladder, function block diagram, sequential function chart and structured text.
  • Performing Internal and Customer Factory Acceptance Tests
  • Technical Checking & Reviewing of Engineering produced by others.
  • Knowledge of project lifecycle working to QA procedures
  • Willingness to travel and work away when required
  • Full UK Driving licence

Desirable Requirements:

  • To have knowledge and experience in the following: -
  • Additional PCS7 capabilities: Certification, Industry Library, F-Systems/Safety Matrix, Bulk Engineering, Structure Control Language (SCL), S7-410 with ET200SP HA, Plant Device Manager
  • Renewable power generation control systems
  • Design of closed loop control systems and loop tuning.
  • Delivery of Safety Systems to IEC 61508/61511 (preferably hold certification)
  • Simulation software e.g. SIMIT/ PICS/WinMOD
  • Communication protocols including: Profibus/Profinet, Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, DNP3 etc
  • Legacy PLCs/software e.g. Rockwell RSLogix5, 500 or 5000, Schneider Unity Pro/Concept, Siemens Step 7.
  • Site work/commissioning automation control systems
  • Cyber‑secure system delivery to IEC 62443 (preferably with certification)
  • Virtualisation utilising VMWare or HyperV
  • Windows Server 2016/2019/2022/2025 and Domain Configuration
  • Network Switch and Firewall Configuration

  • Flexible and adaptable, able to respond positively to changing project requirements and new technologies.
  • Proactive problem-solver with strong analytical thinking and a commitment to delivering high-quality, detail‑focused engineering outputs.
  • Demonstrates professional integrity and a disciplined approach suitable for safety‑critical and highly regulated environments.
  • Takes ownership of project outcomes, driving tasks forward and supporting the wider team to achieve success.
