OUR PEOPLE AND SOCIETY

Our Changing Gear programme continues to raise awareness and make a positive difference to the health, safety and wellbeing of our people and the communities in which we operate.

The wellbeing of our employees is central to everything we do. Our long term objectives are to provide support and guidance on mental health, improve work-life balance and reduce stress. We are also proud to support a number of national mental health awareness campaigns including Blue Monday, Time to Talk Day, World Mental Health Day and Mental Health Awareness Week.

Leadership Behaviours

We are committed to engaging with colleagues, understanding their views, ensuring we are addressing areas they feel are important and any issues. We did this by:

  • Manager’s leading site safety tours and discussions
  • Continuous workforce engagement sessions
  • Offer learning for leaders at all stages of their career

Management Process

Following workshops, surveys and engagement sessions with our employees, we are delighted to have seen an increase in reporting and resolving potential hazards through our dedicated reporting app. We have also created working parties, to refresh, produce and deploy updated processes and procedures.

High Risk Activities

By involving the workforce in discussions, improvements to electrical
safety were identified and made to the production and testing areas
at our manufacturing facility in Stone.

Wellbeing

We ensure our people have access to a wide range of wellbeing support. To help encourage conversations between our colleagues in the workplace, we have appointed a team of trained Mental Health First Aiders dedicated to promoting the workplace as a safe space to talk openly about stress and mental health at work.

Capula offers its employees a number of benefits through our
Employee Assistance programme, which provides support and
guidance.

  • Issuing monthly Life Saving Rules
  • Distributing our regular Changing Gear newsletter.

WE'RE FIGHTING FOR MENTAL HEALTH

We chose to support Mind and become our corporate charity, as they are leading mental health charity in England and Wales. Mind believes that no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. They are there for anybody experiencing a mental health problem, in their community, on the end of the phone or online. Whether somebody is stressed, depressed or in crisis. Mind are there to listen, offer support and advice, and fight their corner.

By supporting Mind, we are helping them on their mission to get support and respect for everyone experiencing a mental health problem. Mind won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect. But they can’t do it alone – as part of Dalkia EDF Group we will help to make sure that Mind can always be here, fighting for mental health.

Throughout the year we host fundraisers to raise money for Mind, including stock drives, bake sales and raffles.
